17/11/2023The 7 jar savory cake is a variant of the sweet version, which uses a jar of yogurt as the unit of measurement for the other ingredients. Let’s see how to prepare it.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of plain yogurt (to be used as a unit of measurement)
- 3 jars of flour
- 1 jar of seed oil
- 1 jar of milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 jar of grated cheese (parmesan or pecorino)
- 2 jars of ingredients of your choice such as diced cooked ham, chopped olives, grilled vegetables cut into pieces, etc.
- 1 sachet of baking powder for savory cakes
- Salt and pepper to taste.
Preparation
- Take a bowl and empty the contents of the yogurt. Using the empty jar as a measuring cup, add the other ingredients.
- Start with the eggs and beat them lightly, then add the grated cheese.
- Pour in the milk, the oil, and mix well to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
- Add the flour little by little, continuing to mix to avoid the formation of lumps.
- Add salt and pepper according to your taste.
- Incorporate the additional ingredients of your choice, such as cooked ham, olives or mixed vegetables.
- Finally, add the baking powder for savory cakes and mix until it is well distributed in the dough.
- Pour the mixture into a mold prepared in advance with parchment paper or well buttered and floured.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 35-40 minutes, until the cake is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool before serving.
An all-Italian idea for this cake could be to add a jar of pesto instead of one of the other savory ingredients to give it a unique flavor characteristic of our country. Remember to slightly reduce the salt in this case, since the pesto is already flavorful.
