Baked Sea Bream

Baked sea bream is a Mediterranean dish highly appreciated for its delicate flavor and easily digestible preparation. Here is the recipe for an Italian-influenced baked sea bream.

Ingredients

  • 1 sea bream of about 600-800 grams (boned and cleaned)
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • Sprigs of fresh rosemary
  • 2-3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Potatoes (optional, for a side dish)

Preparation

  1. Rinse the sea bream well under running water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  3. Line a baking tray with a sheet of parchment paper and drizzle with a little oil.
  4. Slice the lemon into rounds and halve the garlic cloves.
  5. Stuff the inside of the sea bream with the lemon slices, rosemary sprigs, and garlic cloves.
  6. Season the inside and outside of the fish with salt and pepper and place it in the tray.
  7. Drizzle the sea bream with the remaining extra virgin olive oil.
  8. If desired, add sliced potatoes around the sea bream, lightly seasoned with oil, salt, and rosemary.
  9. Bake the sea bream and cook for about 20-30 minutes or until the flesh is tender and succulent.
  10. Remove the sea bream from the oven and serve immediately.
