- Dried oregano to taste
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil to taste
- Lemon juice
- Grated zest of 1 lemon (untreated)
- Pitted black olives (optional)
Preparation
-
Prepare the swordfish: Preheat the oven to 180 °C. Meanwhile, wash the swordfish steaks and pat them dry with paper towels. Place them in a bowl, season with lemon juice, a drizzle of oil, salt, pepper and let marinate for about 15 minutes.
-
Prepare the potatoes: Peel the potatoes and cut them into slices about 5 mm thick. Blanch them in boiling salted water for about 5 minutes, then drain and let cool slightly.
-
Season the potatoes: In a bowl, mix the potatoes with a drizzle of oil, salt, pepper, chopped parsley, oregano, and minced garlic or garlic powder (according to your preference).
-
Assemble the dish: Grease a baking dish with a drizzle of oil and spread a first layer of potatoes. Place the swordfish steaks on top and sprinkle the surface of the steaks with breadcrumbs, grated lemon zest and, if desired, add some chopped black olives.
-
Cooking: Bake and cook for about 20 minutes or until the potatoes are golden and the swordfish is cooked to perfection.
Trivia: Swordfish is a fish with a bold and meaty flavor, known in kitchens throughout the Mediterranean. It is rich in proteins and omega-3, contributing to a healthy and balanced diet. The pairing with potatoes is classic but always appreciated for their simplicity and versatility in completing meat or fish-based dishes.
