24/02/2024Baked trout is a simple and tasty dish that can be easily prepared. Here’s how to do it:
Ingredients
- 1 whole cleaned trout (about 200-250g per person)
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 lemon
- Aromatic herbs to taste (for example thyme, rosemary, parsley)
- 2 garlic cloves
- Vegetables to taste for serving (for example potatoes, carrots, onion)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Clean the trout well, removing the entrails if it hasn’t already been cleaned, and pat it dry with paper towels.
- Rub the inside and outside of the trout with a little extra virgin olive oil, salt and pepper.
- Finely slice the garlic and cut the lemon into slices or wedges. Fill the abdominal cavity of the trout with the garlic, the chosen aromatic herbs and some lemon slices.
- If you wish to add vegetables, cut them into uniform pieces and arrange them in a baking dish, seasoning with oil, salt, pepper and possibly other aromatic herbs.
- Place the trout on top of the bed of vegetables or directly on a baking tray lined with parchment paper if you prefer to cook it without vegetables.
- Bake the trout and cook for about 20-30 minutes or until the flesh is delicately white and flakes easily with a fork.
- Once cooked, remove the trout from the oven and serve drizzled with the juices released during cooking or with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil raw and garnish with fresh lemon slices.
