The chestnut and chocolate cake is a delicious dessert that combines the rich, earthy flavor of chestnuts with the delightfully decadent taste of chocolate. Here’s a recipe for you:

Ingredients

  • 200 g already boiled and peeled chestnuts
  • 100 g sugar
  • 100 g melted butter
  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 3 eggs
  • A pinch of salt
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder (for the surface)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. In a blender, blend the boiled chestnuts with the sugar until you obtain a smooth cream.
  3. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave and incorporate it into the chestnut and sugar mixture.
  4. Add the melted butter and mix well until the mixture is smooth.
  5. Separate the egg yolks from the whites. Add the yolks to the mixture and stir until you obtain a homogeneous batter.
  6. Whip the egg whites to stiff peaks with a pinch of salt and gently fold them into the mixture without deflating them.
  7. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured pan or lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for about 30-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  9. Let the cake cool before dusting it with unsweetened cocoa powder.
