Crispy Salmon

Crispy salmon is a delicious and easy-to-prepare dish. I will guide you through the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Salmon fillets with skin (about 150-200 grams per person)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Aromatic herbs to taste (such as dill or thyme)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 °C if you prefer to cook it in the oven, or prepare a non-stick pan if you choose to cook it on the stovetop.
  2. Pat the salmon fillets dry well with paper towels, making sure the skin is as dry as possible.
  3. Season the salmon with salt and pepper on both sides.
  4. If available, sprinkle the finely chopped aromatic herbs on the flesh side of the salmon.
  5. Heat the oil in a non-stick pan over medium-high heat.
  6. When the oil is hot, place the salmon in the pan skin-side down. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until the skin becomes crispy.
  7. Flip the salmon and cook for another 3-5 minutes on the flesh side or until cooked to the desired doneness. If you prefer the oven, cook the salmon skin-side down for about 12-15 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately.

For an Italian touch, you can serve the crispy salmon on a bed of asparagus risotto or alongside a portion of Sicilian caponata for a contrast of flavors and textures.

And now a fun fact: crispy salmon is often served in Nordic cuisine with a mustard and dill sauce that enhances its flavor.

Enjoy your meal!
