Grilled Swordfish

Grilled swordfish is a perfect dish for those who love intense and authentic flavors. With its firm meat and decisive taste, this fish lends itself wonderfully to simple preparations that enhance its natural qualities. In this recipe, a brief marinade based on extra virgin olive oil and lemon enriches the flavor of the fish without covering it, while grilling gives it a succulent texture and a light smoky note. Easy and quick to make, it is ideal for a summer dinner or a light but tasty meal. Let’s prepare it together!

Ingredients

  • 4 swordfish steaks of about 200 g each
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper
  • Garlic powder or 1 clove of fresh garlic, optional
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Lemon slices, for serving

Preparation

  1. Start by rinsing the swordfish steaks under cold running water and drying them carefully with paper towels.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper. This marinade will enrich the fish with flavor without overpowering its natural taste.

  3. Immerse the swordfish steaks in the marinade, making sure they are well coated. Let them rest for 15-30 minutes, turning them halfway through to flavor evenly.

  4. Heat the grill to medium-high temperature. You will need to lightly grease it with a little oil to prevent the fish from sticking during cooking.

  5. Gently place the swordfish on the grill. Cook the steaks for 3-4 minutes per side, until the typical grill marks form and the edges begin to brown slightly.

  6. While the fish is cooking, you can brush it with the remaining marinade to keep it moist and add extra flavor.

  7. Once cooked, remove the fish from the grill and let it rest for a couple of minutes. This will allow the juices to distribute evenly throughout the meat.

  8. Garnish the swordfish steaks with fresh chopped parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side, for those who want an extra touch of freshness.

Grilled swordfish is excellent served with a simple green salad or grilled vegetables. Remember that the swordfish steaks should not be too thin to avoid drying out during cooking. Enjoy your meal!
