Mother-in-Law's Chocolate Cake
17/11/2023The Mother-in-Law’s Chocolate Cake is a delicious dessert that combines the goodness of chocolate with the cake’s unique texture. Here’s how you can prepare it:
Ingredients
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 200 g butter
- 200 g sugar
- 100 g 00 flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet baking powder
- A pinch of salt
Preparation
- Take a cake pan and line it with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 180 °C so it heats up while you prepare the batter.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, stirring until smooth and homogeneous. Let it cool slightly.
- In a bowl, cream the softened butter with the sugar until light and fluffy.
- Separate the yolks from the whites. Beat the whites to stiff peaks with a pinch of salt.
- Add the yolks to the butter and sugar mixture and stir until well combined.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate into the mixture and stir again.
- Sift the flour with the baking powder and add them to the batter little by little, mixing gently from top to bottom to avoid deflating it.
- Finally, gently fold in the beaten egg whites, trying to keep as much air as possible in the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the surface.
- Bake the cake for about 30-35 minutes. Always do the toothpick test to ensure the cake is cooked just right: it should come out clean but not dry, because the cake should remain moist inside.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool before removing it from the pan.
