Watermelon Sorbet
17/11/2023Watermelon sorbet is a refreshing and delicious dessert, ideal for hot summer days. Here is the recipe to prepare it:
Ingredients
- 500 g watermelon (seedless)
- 100 g sugar
- The juice of one lemon
- 50 ml water
Preparation
- Start by cleaning the watermelon, removing the rind and seeds, if present, and cutting it into pieces.
- In a small saucepan, bring the water and sugar to a boil, stirring until the sugar has completely dissolved, obtaining a syrup. Then let it cool.
- Place the watermelon pieces in the blender and blend until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
- Add the cold syrup and lemon juice to the watermelon puree and mix well.
- Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and turn it on following the manufacturer’s instructions to thicken the sorbet. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, you can pour the mixture into a container and put it in the freezer, stirring every hour to prevent the formation of ice crystals.
- When the sorbet has reached the desired consistency, it is ready to be served.
Fun Facts
The sorbet is a preparation based on water, sugar and fruit or different flavors. It has a more granular consistency than ice cream and is much appreciated for its refreshing qualities. In Italy, it is often served as an “intermezzo” between one course and another during very long meals, to “cleanse” the palate.
