Zebra Ciambella
17/11/2023The zebra ciambella is a tasty dessert characterized by the effect of alternating light and dark colored stripes, creating a pattern reminiscent of a zebra’s stripes. Here is the recipe for a classic zebra ciambella:
Ingredients
- 300 g of 00 flour
- 200 g of sugar
- 100 ml of seed oil
- 100 ml of milk
- 3 eggs
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 20 g of unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 packet of vanillin or vanilla extract
Preparation
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar using an electric whisk until you obtain a light and frothy mixture.
- Add the seed oil slowly, continuing to beat.
- Incorporate the sifted flour with the baking powder, salt, and vanillin (or vanilla extract), alternating with the milk, until you obtain a homogeneous batter without lumps.
- Divide the batter into two equal parts in two different bowls. To one of them add the cocoa powder and mix until evenly distributed.
- Prepare a bundt pan, greasing and flouring it or lining it with parchment paper.
- Start by pouring two tablespoons of light batter into the center of the pan, then pour the same amount of the cocoa batter directly into the center. Continue alternating the two mixtures, forming concentric rings that will create the zebra effect.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the ciambella comes out clean.
- Let the ciambella cool before unmolding and serve it at room temperature.
The secret to achieving the zebra effect lies in carefully alternating the mixtures, always pouring them into the center of the pan. This way, each layer will push the one below towards the outside, creating the striped effect.
Have fun making it and enjoy your zebra ciambella!
