Baked Stuffed Sandwich Bread Rolls
17/11/2023Here’s how to prepare delicious baked stuffed sandwich bread rolls, a simple and quick recipe, ideal for a tasty appetizer or an aperitif with friends.
Ingredients
- 8 slices of sandwich bread without crust
- 150 g of cooked ham slices
- 150 g of sliced cheese (mozzarella, scamorza, fontina or other cheese that melts well)
- 2 tablespoons of milk
- 1 egg
- Breadcrumbs as needed
- Butter as needed
- Salt as needed
- Pepper as needed (optional)
Preparation
- Start by preheating the oven to 180 °C.
- Take the slices of sandwich bread and, with a rolling pin, flatten them slightly to make them more flexible.
- Place on the slices of sandwich bread first a slice of cooked ham and then one of cheese, leaving a small border free on the sides.
- Roll the stuffed bread onto itself, forming tight rolls.
- In a bowl, beat the egg with the milk, a pinch of salt and, if desired, a dusting of pepper.
- Dip the rolls in the beaten egg, making sure to coat them evenly.
- Then roll the rolls in breadcrumbs, ensuring they are completely covered.
- Arrange the rolls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper and place a small piece of butter on each roll, so they become golden and crispy during baking.
- Bake the rolls and cook them for about 15-20 minutes or until golden and the cheese inside has melted.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
