Chocolate and Chili Pepper Cake

Ingredients
- 200 g of high-quality dark chocolate
- 100 g of butter
- 150 g of sugar
- 3 eggs
- 70 g of 00 flour
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1 fresh spicy red chili pepper or a pinch of chili powder (according to your tolerance for spiciness)
- Powdered sugar (for decorating, optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180° C.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler together with the butter, being careful not to burn the chocolate. Once melted, mix them until you have a homogeneous mixture.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the sugar until they become frothy and light.
- Add the melted chocolate to the egg and sugar mixture, stirring gently with a spatula.
- Add the sifted flour and a pinch of salt, mixing until everything is combined.
- Finally, wash the fresh chili pepper, remove the seeds, and cut it into very small pieces. If using chili powder, add as much as needed to give the right level of spiciness.
- Incorporate the chili pepper into the mixture.
- Pour the batter into a buttered and floured cake pan or lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cake is cooked but soft in the center (do the toothpick test).
- Let the cake cool before removing it from the pan.
If desired, once cooled, you can dust the cake with powdered sugar. The combination of the heat of the chili pepper with the rich flavor of chocolate will create a unique experience for the palate.
