Chocolate Salami
17/11/2023Chocolate salami is a no-bake dessert, highly appreciated in Italy and simple to prepare. Here is the recipe with quantities for about 8-10 servings:
Ingredients
- 200 g dry biscuits (such as Oro Saiwa or similar)
- 150 g butter at room temperature
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 150 g dark chocolate
- 50 g unsweetened cocoa powder
- 100 g chopped hazelnuts or almonds (optional)
- A pinch of salt
- Rum or other liqueur to taste (optional)
- Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)
Preparation
- Start by coarsely chopping the biscuits in a large bowl.
- Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it.
- Mix the softened butter with the powdered sugar until you obtain a smooth cream.
- Add the egg yolks to the butter and sugar mixture, stirring thoroughly.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate into the cream mixture, then add the cocoa powder and a pinch of salt, mixing until homogeneous.
- Add the chopped biscuits (and the liqueur if you decide to use it) to the chocolate mixture and stir well.
- If desired, you can also add the chopped hazelnuts or almonds at this stage.
- Pour the mixture onto a sheet of parchment paper and shape it into a salami, rolling it tightly and sealing the ends.
- Let the chocolate salami firm up in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
- Before serving, dust with powdered sugar to create the ‘salami’ effect.
