Creamy Spaghetti with Zucchini and Prague Ham

Here is a recipe for creamy spaghetti with zucchini and Prague ham – a simple but delicious dish that combines the delicate flavor of the zucchini with the smoky taste of the ham:

Ingredients

  • 320 g spaghetti
  • 2 medium zucchini
  • 150 g Prague ham
  • 200 ml cooking cream
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan to taste
  • Fresh basil (optional)

Preparation

  1. Clean the zucchini by removing the ends and cut them into rounds or julienne, depending on your preference.
  2. Cut the Prague ham into strips or cubes.
  3. In a large pan, heat a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and sauté the garlic clove to flavor the oil, then remove it.
  4. Add the zucchini to the pan and sauté until lightly golden.
  5. Add the Prague ham and let it cook for a couple of minutes.
  6. Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil and cook the spaghetti al dente according to the package instructions.
  7. Once the zucchini and ham are well sautéed, lower the heat and add the cooking cream to the vegetables, letting it cook for a few minutes until a slightly thick cream forms. Adjust salt and pepper.
  8. Drain the spaghetti and transfer them to the pan with the zucchini and ham cream, tossing everything over high heat to combine the ingredients.
  9. Serve immediately with a sprinkle of Parmesan and, if desired, garnish with fresh basil leaves.

Trivia

Prague ham, also known as Prosciutto di Praga, is a deli meat with a delicately smoky flavor, originating from the Czech Republic but also highly appreciated in Italy. Often used to add flavor to hot dishes, it pairs particularly well with the creaminess of preparations made with cream.
