Dark Chocolate Cake

Here’s the recipe for a delicious dark chocolate cake. Remember that this cake will be particularly intense and rich, perfect for true chocolate lovers!

Ingredients

  • 200 g of good quality dark chocolate
  • 150 g unsalted butter
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 50 g sifted flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Vanilla sugar (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F). Butter and flour a cake pan about 20 cm in diameter or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it. Add the butter in pieces to the melted chocolate and stir until you get a homogeneous mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the powdered sugar and a pinch of salt until they become frothy and light.
  4. Gently fold the melted chocolate with the butter into the egg and sugar mixture, stirring from the bottom up to avoid deflating the mixture.
  5. Add the sifted flour, stirring carefully until it is completely absorbed.
  6. If you like, you can add a bit of vanilla sugar to flavor the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and level the surface.
  8. Bake in the oven for about 20-25 minutes. The cake will be ready when the edges are cooked but the center is still slightly moist.
  9. Let the cake cool in the pan before unmolding it. It can be served warm or at room temperature.

For a final touch, you could dust with a bit of powdered sugar or cocoa powder before serving, or accompany with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
