Dark Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate
  • 150 g butter
  • 150 g sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 100 g 00 flour
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • A pinch of salt

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  2. Melt the dark chocolate together with the butter in a double boiler. Let it cool slightly once everything is melted and homogeneous.
  3. Meanwhile, beat the eggs with the sugar until you obtain a light and frothy mixture.
  4. Gently add the melted chocolate and butter mixture to the egg mixture, stirring with a spatula using bottom-to-top movements.
  5. Sift the flour with the baking powder and a pinch of salt and slowly incorporate them into the mixture, continuing to stir gently so as not to deflate the mixture.
  6. Pour the batter into a buttered and floured cake pan, then level the surface.
  7. Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  8. Let the dark chocolate cake cool before unmolding it.

You can serve the cake as is or dusted with powdered sugar, or you can accompany it with custard or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a contrasting note.
