Hard-boiled eggs
17/11/2023Hard-boiled eggs are a simple and nutritious classic. Here’s how to prepare them:
Ingredients
- Eggs (as many as you desire)
Preparation
- Bring a pot of water large enough to hold the eggs you want to cook to a boil.
- Using a spoon, gently place the eggs into the boiling water. To prevent the eggs from cracking, you can make a small hole in the wider part of the egg with a toothpick before placing them in the water.
- Let the eggs cook for 9-12 minutes, depending on how you prefer the yolk. If you like a creamy yolk, 9 minutes are generally sufficient. For a fully cooked yolk, wait 12 minutes.
- Once cooked, remove them from the boiling water with the spoon and immediately immerse them in a bowl of cold water or run cold water over them to stop the cooking.
- Let them cool for a few minutes in cold water, after which you can easily peel them.
Hard-boiled eggs can be eaten as is, with a pinch of salt, or used in numerous dishes, such as salads, sandwiches, or as a base for preparing stuffed eggs (deviled eggs).
Fun Fact
Eggs are one of the most versatile and nutritious foods available, rich in high-quality proteins and essential vitamins. In Italy, hard-boiled eggs are often found in capricciose salads or as an ingredient for some pasta variants, such as carbonara pasta (although in the original version there are no hard-boiled eggs).
