Ice Cream-Filled Panettone
17/11/2023Here is a recipe for Ice Cream-Filled Panettone, a delight that combines two great classics of Italian cuisine: panettone and ice cream. Remember, this may not be a traditional recipe, but it will certainly be a delicious combination. If you don’t have a ready-made panettone, you can buy one of good quality or make one following a specific panettone recipe.
Ingredients
- 1 panettone (about 1kg)
- 1 liter of ice cream of your choice (vanilla, chocolate, stracciatella, etc.)
- 100g candied fruit (optional)
- 50g dark chocolate shavings (optional)
- Orange liqueur or alchermes (optional for flavoring)
Preparation
- Cut the top off the panettone like a lid, about 3-4 cm from the edge.
- Gently hollow out the inside of the panettone, leaving a layer about 2 cm thick attached to the crust to create a “box” of panettone. Remove the large crumbs and save them for another use.
- Let the ice cream soften slightly until it becomes malleable.
- If desired, mix the softened ice cream with chopped candied fruit or chocolate shavings.
- Fill the hollow in the panettone with the ice cream, pressing lightly to fill all the spaces.
- Replace the panettone “lid” on top.
- Place the ice cream-filled panettone in the freezer for a few hours until the ice cream has hardened.
- Before serving, you can brush the top of the panettone with a little liqueur if desired.
- Slice the ice cream-filled panettone and serve.
