Milk Slice Gelato
17/11/2023Milk slice gelato is a fresh and delicious dessert reminiscent of famous ice cream snacks. The preparation of this recipe involves several steps to create the various layers, but the final result is delicious. Here is the recipe:
Ingredients
- 500 ml whole milk
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 150 g sugar
- 1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 gelatin sheets (6 g)
- 150 g white chocolate
- 100 g dark chocolate for the coating
Preparation
- For the creamy milk base, heat the milk with the vanilla and sugar in a saucepan. Bring almost to a boil and then remove from the heat.
- Soak the gelatin sheets in cold water to soften for about 5 minutes.
- Once the gelatin has softened, squeeze it out and add it to the hot milk. Stir well until completely dissolved.
- Let the milk mixture cool to lukewarm.
- Meanwhile, whip the cream. When the milk is lukewarm, gently fold it into the whipped cream to obtain a homogeneous mixture.
- Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, then mix it with a small portion of the milk cream.
- Pour the white chocolate cream into a rectangular mold previously lined with plastic wrap, creating a layer about half a centimeter thick. Let it rest in the refrigerator until set.
- Pour the remaining milk cream on top, leveling it well, and place in the freezer for at least 4 hours, or until completely solidified.
- For the coating, melt the dark chocolate in a double boiler or microwave and let it cool slightly.
- Once the gelato has hardened, remove it from the mold and pour the melted dark chocolate over it to create the coating effect. Allow the chocolate to solidify.
- Slice the gelato into bars or squares and serve.

Milk slice gelato is inspired by classic ice cream bars available commercially, but made at home with simple and natural ingredients, and for this reason it can be customized to your own tastes, for example by using milk chocolate or different flavors for the cream.
