Orange Tiramisu

The orange tiramisu is a citrusy variant of the classic Italian dessert. Here’s how to prepare this delicious version.

Ingredients

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 500 g of mascarpone
  • 300 ml of fresh orange juice
  • 1 untreated orange (grated zest)
  • Ladyfingers as needed
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder for dusting
  • Optional: orange liqueur (such as Grand Marnier or Cointreau) for flavoring

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, beat the egg yolks with the sugar until you obtain a light and frothy mixture.
  2. Incorporate the mascarpone into the egg yolk and sugar mixture, stirring gently until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Add the grated zest of an orange to flavor the cream.
  4. In a shallow dish, pour the orange juice and, if desired, add a bit of orange liqueur.
  5. Quickly dip the ladyfingers in the orange juice, being careful not to soak them too much.
  6. Make a layer of dipped ladyfingers on the bottom of a baking dish or suitable container.
  7. Layer a mascarpone cream layer on top, then continue alternating layers until the ingredients are used up.
  8. Finish with a layer of mascarpone cream.
  9. Cover the dessert with plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 3-4 hours. This will allow the flavors to blend better.
  10. Before serving, dust the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder.
