Pasta with Swordfish and Mint

The pasta dish with swordfish and mint is a delicious example of Mediterranean cuisine that blends delicate flavors with the intense tastes of the sea. Here is a recipe to guide you in its preparation.

Ingredients

  • 320g of pasta (such as penne, spaghetti or linguine)
  • 300g of fresh swordfish
  • 2 sprigs of fresh mint
  • 250g of cherry tomatoes
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • Extra virgin olive oil (as needed)
  • Salt and pepper (as needed)
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon (optional)
  • White wine (a splash for deglazing, if desired)

Preparation

  1. Clean the swordfish by removing the skin and any bones, then cut it into cubes.
  2. Wash the cherry tomatoes and cut them in half.
  3. In a large skillet, sauté the finely chopped garlic with extra virgin olive oil.
  4. Add the swordfish cubes to the skillet and sear briefly. If desired, deglaze with a splash of white wine and let the alcohol evaporate.
  5. Add the cherry tomatoes and cook over medium-high heat for a few minutes until they begin to break down. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in plenty of salted water according to the package instructions for al dente texture.
  7. Drain the pasta and transfer it to the skillet with the swordfish and tomato sauce, adding a drizzle of oil if necessary.
  8. Add the chopped fresh mint (reserving some for final garnish) and, if you like, a little lemon juice to brighten the flavors.
  9. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
  10. Serve the pasta hot, garnished with the reserved mint leaves.

Trivia

Swordfish is highly prized in Sicilian cuisine, where it is paired with simple ingredients that enhance its flavor without overpowering it. Mint adds a fresh, aromatic note that pairs beautifully with the delicate taste of the fish and the sweetness of the tomatoes.

Enjoy!
