Prosciutto Meatloaf

The prosciutto meatloaf is a rich and tasty dish, perfect to serve as a main course accompanied by a side of vegetables. Let’s see how to prepare it.

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground beef
  • 150 g prosciutto crudo, thinly sliced
  • 100 g stale bread
  • 100 ml milk
  • 50 g grated Parmesan
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small onion
  • Parsley to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Butter to taste for greasing the baking dish

Preparation

  1. Start by soaking the stale bread in the milk until it softens. Squeeze it to remove excess milk.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, soaked bread, grated Parmesan, eggs, finely chopped parsley, salt and pepper. Mix the ingredients well until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.
  3. Finely chop the onion and sauté it with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil until it becomes translucent. Let it cool slightly, then add it to the meatloaf mixture.
  4. Spread the meat mixture on a sheet of parchment paper, forming a rectangle about 1.5 cm thick.
  5. Arrange the prosciutto crudo slices over the meat mixture, leaving a margin at the edges.
  6. Roll up the meatloaf using the parchment paper and seal the ends well to prevent the filling from leaking during cooking.
  7. Transfer the meatloaf to a baking dish previously greased with a little butter.
  8. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 40-50 minutes, until golden brown on the outside.
  9. Serve the prosciutto meatloaf sliced, accompanied by a side dish of your choice.
