Savory Prosciutto and Mushroom Pinwheels

Ingredients

  • 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
  • 150 g sliced cooked ham
  • 150 g fresh champignon mushrooms
  • 100 g spreadable cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove
  • Chopped parsley (optional)
  • 1 egg (for brushing)

Preparation

  1. Clean the champignon mushrooms with a damp cloth (without washing them under water to prevent them from absorbing liquid).
  2. Slice the mushrooms thinly and sauté them in a pan with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and a crushed garlic clove. Season with salt and pepper and cook until they have released all their water.
  3. Once cooked, remove the garlic and set the mushrooms aside to cool. You can chop them a bit more if you prefer smaller pieces.
  4. Unroll the puff pastry sheet and spread the spreadable cheese evenly over it.
  5. Distribute the cooled mushrooms and slices of cooked ham over the cheese. If desired, you can add some chopped parsley for more flavor.
  6. Roll the puff pastry onto itself, starting from the long side, to form a cylinder.
  7. Place the cylinder in the refrigerator for about 15-30 minutes. This will help cut the pinwheels more easily.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  9. Cut the cylinder into slices about 2 cm thick and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, spacing them slightly apart.
  10. Beat the egg and brush the pinwheels to give them a golden color during baking.
  11. Bake and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until the pinwheels are golden and well puffed.
  12. Let them cool slightly before serving.
