Seafood Lasagna
17/11/2023Seafood lasagna is a refined and tasty dish that can bring a bit of the sea and elegance to your table. Here’s how to prepare them step by step.
Ingredients
- 200g egg lasagna sheets (you can opt for those ready to bake in the oven)
- 300g mixed cleaned seafood (e.g. calamari, shrimp, mussels, white fish fillets)
- 250g béchamel sauce (you can make it at home or use store-bought)
- 200g tomato passata
- 1 garlic clove
- Fresh parsley to taste
- Salt to taste
- Pepper to taste
- Extra virgin olive oil to taste
- Grated Parmesan to taste
Preparation
- Start by preparing the seafood sauce. In a large pan, sauté the garlic with a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil. Once golden, remove the garlic and add the mixed seafood. Cook over medium heat for a few minutes.
- Add the tomato passata to the seafood, salt and pepper to taste, and let it cook for about 15-20 minutes, until the seafood sauce has slightly reduced. At the end of cooking, add the chopped fresh parsley.
- Prepare the egg lasagna sheets according to the package instructions if they require pre-cooking. Otherwise, if they are ready to use in the oven, you can proceed directly with assembling the lasagna.
- In a baking dish, spread a first layer of béchamel, then place a first layer of lasagna sheets on top.
- Add a layer of seafood sauce and a sprinkle of grated Parmesan. Repeat the layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with béchamel and Parmesan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30 minutes or until a nice golden crust forms on the surface.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
Trivia
Seafood lasagna is a lighter and more delicate variant compared to the classic version with meat ragù. This dish is great for special occasions and is generally much appreciated in Italian coastal regions, where seafood is particularly fresh and abundant.
You can customize the recipe with your favorite or seasonal fish, and if you like, add a sprinkle of chives or dill to enhance the flavor of the seafood. Bon appétit!
