Stuffed Grapefruits
17/11/2023Stuffed grapefruits are a fresh and delicious dessert or an option for an elegant appetizer. Here’s how to prepare Italian-style stuffed grapefruits, adding a Mediterranean touch with ingredients like honey and almonds.
Ingredients
- 2 large red grapefruits
- 2 tablespoons of honey (preferably wildflower or orange blossom)
- 2 tablespoons of chopped or flaked almonds
- 1 sprig of fresh mint
- A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Preparation
-
Cut the grapefruits in half crosswise. Using a small knife, gently separate the flesh from the peel, being careful not to tear it. Remove the flesh and seeds and set aside.
-
If desired, for an extra touch, you can place the grapefruit halves on a baking tray and lightly grill them under the broiler for a few minutes to intensify their flavor.
-
In a bowl, mix the grapefruit flesh with the honey and cinnamon. Add the chopped almonds, reserving some for the final decoration.
-
Fill the grapefruit halves with the mixture of flesh, honey, and almonds.
-
Garnish with the reserved almond flakes and mint leaves for a touch of freshness.
-
Serve the stuffed grapefruits chilled, after letting them rest in the fridge for a bit if desired.
