Turkey Burgers

Turkey burgers are an excellent variation on classic beef burgers and can be lighter and healthier. Here’s how to prepare them Italian-style:

Ingredients

  • 500 g ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • Chopped parsley to taste
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Breadcrumbs (if needed, to bind the mixture)
  • Extra-virgin olive oil for greasing the pan

Preparation

  1. In a large bowl, place the ground turkey.
  2. Add the egg, grated Parmesan, minced garlic (if desired), parsley, salt, and pepper.
  3. Mix well with your hands to combine all the ingredients. If the mixture is too wet, add a little breadcrumbs until you reach a consistency that allows you to form the burgers.
  4. Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into burgers.
  5. In a non-stick pan lightly greased with olive oil, cook the burgers over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with your preferred sides: grilled vegetables, a fresh salad, or hamburger buns if you want a classic sandwich.

Trivia

Turkey burgers are a leaner alternative to beef burgers and are especially appreciated by those following low-calorie diets or looking to reduce red meat consumption. In Italy, it is common to enrich the mixture with aromatic herbs and typical cheeses to add extra flavor.
