Two-Chocolate Salami
17/11/2023The Two-Chocolate Salami is a delicious dessert that combines the crunchiness of biscuits with the sweetness of dark and milk chocolates. Here’s how to make it:
Ingredients
- 100g dark chocolate
- 100g milk chocolate
- 100g softened butter
- 150g dry biscuits
- 80g powdered sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar as needed for decoration
- Cocoa powder (optional)
Preparation
- Roughly break the biscuits into a bowl.
- In another bowl, melt both types of chocolate together with the butter in a bain-marie, stirring until smooth and homogeneous.
- Remove from the heat and let the chocolate and butter mixture cool slightly.
- In a separate container, beat the eggs with the powdered sugar and the pinch of salt until frothy.
- Slowly add the chocolate and butter mixture to the beaten eggs, stirring gently.
- Add the broken biscuits to the mixture and stir until they are completely coated with chocolate.
- Place a sheet of parchment paper on a work surface and pour the mixture onto it, shaping it into a salami.
- Wrap the chocolate salami in the parchment paper and tie the ends tightly, like a real salami. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
- Before serving, remove the parchment paper and roll the salami in powdered sugar (and cocoa if desired) to simulate the classic “bloom” of salami.
- Slice the two-chocolate salami and serve.
Trivia
The Chocolate Salami is a typical dessert in many Italian regions, where it is often prepared during the holidays. The two-chocolate version is a particularly indulgent variant that combines the intense flavor of dark chocolate with the sweetness of milk chocolate, a real temptation for chocolate lovers. In some recipes, a bit of liqueur is also added, such as rum or Marsala, to further enrich the flavor.
