Two-Chocolate Salami

The Two-Chocolate Salami is a delicious dessert that combines the crunchiness of biscuits with the sweetness of dark and milk chocolates. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients

  • 100g dark chocolate
  • 100g milk chocolate
  • 100g softened butter
  • 150g dry biscuits
  • 80g powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 pinch of salt
  • Powdered sugar as needed for decoration
  • Cocoa powder (optional)

Preparation

  1. Roughly break the biscuits into a bowl.
  2. In another bowl, melt both types of chocolate together with the butter in a bain-marie, stirring until smooth and homogeneous.
  3. Remove from the heat and let the chocolate and butter mixture cool slightly.
  4. In a separate container, beat the eggs with the powdered sugar and the pinch of salt until frothy.
  5. Slowly add the chocolate and butter mixture to the beaten eggs, stirring gently.
  6. Add the broken biscuits to the mixture and stir until they are completely coated with chocolate.
  7. Place a sheet of parchment paper on a work surface and pour the mixture onto it, shaping it into a salami.
  8. Wrap the chocolate salami in the parchment paper and tie the ends tightly, like a real salami. Refrigerate for at least 3 hours.
  9. Before serving, remove the parchment paper and roll the salami in powdered sugar (and cocoa if desired) to simulate the classic “bloom” of salami.
  10. Slice the two-chocolate salami and serve.

Trivia

The Chocolate Salami is a typical dessert in many Italian regions, where it is often prepared during the holidays. The two-chocolate version is a particularly indulgent variant that combines the intense flavor of dark chocolate with the sweetness of milk chocolate, a real temptation for chocolate lovers. In some recipes, a bit of liqueur is also added, such as rum or Marsala, to further enrich the flavor.
