Walnut and Chocolate Cake
17/11/2023It’s a pleasure to share the recipe for a delicious walnut and chocolate cake. Here’s how to make it.
Ingredients
- 150 g 00 flour
- 150 g sugar
- 150 g softened butter
- 200 g dark chocolate
- 100 g coarsely chopped walnuts
- 4 eggs
- 1 packet baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or in the microwave, being careful not to burn it. Then let it cool slightly.
- Cream the softened butter with the sugar in a bowl until you get a creamy and fluffy mixture.
- Separate the yolks from the whites. Add the yolks to the butter and sugar mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Incorporate the melted chocolate into the mixture.
- Add the sifted flour together with the baking powder and a pinch of salt. Mix well to avoid lumps.
- Add the chopped walnuts, stirring to distribute them evenly in the batter.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and then gently fold them into the batter with bottom-up movements to avoid deflating them.
- Pour the batter into a cake pan previously buttered and floured.
- Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
Fun Facts
The combination of chocolate with walnuts is not only delicious, but also rich in antioxidants thanks to the dark chocolate and omega-3 thanks to the walnuts. A dessert that in its own way can also be considered a bit “healthy”.
