Wreath of Sausage Bundles
17/11/2023The Wreath of Sausage Bundles is a fun and tasty idea, perfect for parties, especially if you have children among the guests or for an informal aperitif.
Ingredients
- 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
- 10 sausages (chicken or pork, depending on preferences)
- 1 egg yolk for brushing
- Sesame or poppy seeds for decoration
- Ketchup, mustard or sauce of your choice to serve
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 °C.
- Unroll the puff pastry and cut it into long, thin strips.
- Wrap each sausage with a strip of puff pastry, leaving a little space between one spiral and the other to allow the pastry to puff up during baking.
- Form a circle on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, arranging the sausages wrapped in puff pastry so that they touch at the sides, thus creating the shape of a wreath.
- Beat the egg yolk and gently brush the bundles.
- Sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds over the bundles to decorate.
- Bake the wreath in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until the puff pastry is golden and well cooked.
- Serve the wreath of sausage bundles hot, accompanied by ketchup, mustard or your favorite sauce.
Fun Fact
This recipe can be customized in many ways. You can add some grated cheese or aromatic herbs to the puff pastry strips before wrapping the sausages to give more flavor. Furthermore, if you prefer, you can use spicy sausages instead of traditional wurstels for a variant with a spicy touch.
