Yogurt Ciambellone
17/11/2023Here is the recipe for a classic Yogurt Ciambellone. This soft cake is ideal for breakfast or for an Italian-style snack.
Ingredients
- 1 jar of plain yogurt (about 125 g, which can then be used as a measuring cup)
- 3 jars of flour
- 2 jars of sugar
- 1 jar of seed oil
- 3 eggs
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- Grated zest of 1 lemon (optional)
- Butter and flour for greasing and flouring the pan
Preparation
- Take a bowl and use the yogurt jar as a measuring cup.
- Empty the yogurt jar into the bowl, and use it to measure the other ingredients.
- Add the sugar and whisk until you obtain a smooth mixture.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the seed oil while continuing to mix.
- Add the grated lemon zest to give the cake a fresh aroma, if desired.
- In a separate bowl, sift the flour with the baking powder and the pinch of salt.
- Incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently to avoid lumps.
- Prepare the bundt pan by greasing and flouring it, then pour the batter into it.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180° C for about 35-40 minutes. Always test with a toothpick to ensure it is cooked: if inserted in the center, the toothpick should come out dry.
- Remove from the oven and let cool before unmolding the Ciambellone.
Once ready, the Yogurt Ciambellone can be served with a dusting of powdered sugar or enjoyed as is.
Trivia
The Yogurt Ciambellone is appreciated for its lightness and versatility. However, the beauty of this recipe is that it can be customized in many ways: you can add chocolate chips, chopped dried fruit, or replace the lemon zest with orange zest for variations on the theme. In addition, this soft and flavorful base is perfect for flavored experiments, for example by adding cocoa powder for a more indulgent version.
