Lasagne with Taleggio, Speck, and Walnuts

Lasagne with taleggio, speck, and walnuts are a very tasty and hearty variant of the traditional Italian dish. Here’s how to prepare them.

Ingredients

  • 250 g egg lasagne (preferably fresh)
  • 200 g taleggio
  • 150 g sliced speck
  • 100 g shelled walnuts
  • 500 ml béchamel
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Nutmeg to taste
  • Butter to taste for the baking dish
  • Flour to taste for dusting
  • grated Parmesan to taste

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 200ºC.
  2. Prepare the béchamel by heating the milk with salt and pepper. In a separate saucepan, melt a knob of butter, add the flour and cook for a few minutes. Gradually add the hot milk, stirring to avoid lumps until you obtain a thick sauce. Season with a dusting of nutmeg.
  3. Lightly toast the walnuts in a pan or in the oven and then roughly chop them.
  4. Cut the taleggio into cubes or thin slices.
  5. Butter a baking dish and spread a little béchamel on the bottom.
  6. Arrange a layer of lasagne, cover with a layer of béchamel, and distribute the taleggio, speck, and chopped walnuts.
  7. Add a pinch of salt and pepper, then sprinkle with a little Parmesan.
  8. Repeat the layers until the ingredients are used up, finishing with a generous sprinkling of Parmesan and a few knobs of butter.
  9. Bake the lasagne for about 20-30 minutes or until a golden and crispy crust forms on the surface.
  10. Let the lasagne rest for a few minutes before serving.

Curiosità

The combination of taleggio cheese, with its bold and creamy flavor, with smoked speck and the crunch of walnuts creates a very rich and satisfying balance of flavors. This dish is perfect for a dinner with friends or for a special occasion, bringing an original touch to the table compared to classic lasagna.

If you want to make the dish even more special, you can add a touch of pears cut into small cubes to the recipe, which will balance the flavor with their sweetness and aroma.
