17/11/2023Puff Pastry Apple Rosettes are a delicious and attractive dessert, perfect for impressing your guests. Here’s the recipe with an Italian touch.
Ingredients
- 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
- 2-3 red apples
- Juice of 1 lemon
- Brown sugar to taste
- Ground cinnamon to taste
- Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- Wash the apples, cut them in half, remove the core, and slice them thinly without peeling. Place the apple slices in a bowl with water and lemon juice, then heat the apples in the microwave or in a saucepan to make them slightly more flexible and easier to roll.
- Roll out the puff pastry and cut horizontal strips about 5 cm high.
- Pat the apple slices dry and arrange them along the puff pastry strip, slightly overhanging the top edge. Make sure the apple slices overlap each other.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon over the apples.
- Fold the bottom edge of the puff pastry over the apples to secure them.
- Roll the puff pastry from the short side to form the roses. Do this gently to avoid breaking the apples.
- Place the rosettes in a muffin tin to maintain their shape.
- Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until the rosettes are golden.
- If desired, once cooled, dust with powdered sugar for a more elegant finish.
Puff Pastry Apple Rosettes are a perfect example of how Italian cuisine always manages to strike the right balance between aesthetics and flavor. They can be served as an after-dinner dessert, perhaps accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, or as an afternoon snack. Enjoy!
