Ingredients
- 1 roll of rectangular puff pastry
- 200 g spicy salami, cubed
- 150 g spicy provolone cheese, cubed
- 1 red bell pepper, cut into strips
- 100 g tomato passata
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano
- 1 clove of garlic, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for brushing the pastry)
Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 200 °C (fan).
- Roll out the puff pastry on a work surface, keeping its parchment paper underneath.
- In a bowl, combine the salami, provolone, red bell pepper, tomato passata, chopped garlic, and oregano. Mix everything well and adjust the salt and pepper to your taste.
- Spread the filling evenly over half of the pastry, leaving a border of about 1 cm free.
- Fold the other half of the pastry over the filling and press the edges to seal them well.
- Brush the surface of the pastry with the beaten egg. This will help achieve a golden and crispy finish.
- Make a few cuts on the surface of the pastry to allow moisture to escape during baking.
- Bake the rustic puff pastry alla diavola for about 20-25 minutes or until the surface is well golden and crispy.
- Let it rest for a few minutes before serving.
