Savory Tomato Lasagna Pie
17/11/2023The savory tomato lasagna pie is a creative and appetizing variant of a classic of Italian cuisine. It is a perfect recipe to reinvent lasagna in a less traditional way. Here is the recipe for you:
Ingredients
- 250 g egg lasagna sheets (ready-made or to cook)
- 500 ml tomato passata
- 1 small onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 250 g ricotta
- 200 g mozzarella, diced
- 100 g grated Parmesan
- 200 g ground meat (optional for a richer version)
- Extra-virgin olive oil to taste
- Fresh basil to taste
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Nutmeg to taste (for the ricotta)
- Butter for greasing the pan
Preparation
- Start by preparing the sauce. Finely chop the onion and garlic and sauté them in a pan with a drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil until translucent. If you have chosen to add the ground meat, add it at this point and sauté until well browned.
- Pour the tomato passata into the pan, add salt and pepper to taste, and let it simmer over medium-low heat for about 20 minutes. At the end of cooking, add the torn fresh basil.
- Meanwhile, in a bowl, mix the ricotta with a pinch of salt, pepper, and nutmeg to taste until you obtain a smooth mixture.
- If using lasagna sheets that require cooking, boil them as indicated on the package, then drain and lay them on a clean towel to dry.
- Take a round baking dish and lightly grease it with butter. Begin layering your savory pie: place a layer of lasagna sheets on the bottom, then a layer of tomato sauce, a few spoonfuls of ricotta, and a sprinkle of Parmesan and diced mozzarella.
- Repeat the layers until the dish is full, finishing with a sprinkle of Parmesan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C for about 30-40 minutes, until the surface is golden and crispy.
- Let the savory lasagna pie rest for a few minutes before serving.
This savory pie can be served both as a one-dish meal and as a main course for dinner. You can customize the recipe by adding layers of grilled vegetables, such as zucchini or eggplant, for a lighter, summery touch. Enjoy your meal!
