Smoked Salmon Rolls

Salmon rolls can be an elegant and tasty appetizer, often accompanied by a fresh and aromatic filling. Let’s see a recipe that might satisfy the palate, with an Italian touch. In this case, we will prepare raw salmon rolls with ricotta and aromatic herbs.

Ingredients

  • 200 g of thinly sliced smoked salmon
  • 250 g of good quality ricotta
  • 2 tablespoons of finely chopped chives
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped dill
  • Zest of 1 lemon (organic)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, combine the ricotta with the chives, dill and grated lemon zest. Mix everything until you obtain a homogeneous mixture. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.
  2. Lay the slices of smoked salmon on a work surface. If necessary, pat them dry slightly with paper towels.
  3. Take a heaping spoonful of the ricotta and herb mixture and spread it on one end of each salmon slice.
  4. Gently roll the salmon around the filling, forming rolls.
  5. Once all the rolls are ready, place them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  6. Before serving, drizzle each roll with a thread of extra virgin olive oil and, if desired, add an extra touch of chopped fresh herbs or other flavors to taste.

These rolls are ideal served on a bed of salad or accompanied by bread crostini. If you want to give it an even more Italian touch, you can add a pinch of dried or fresh oregano to the filling to further enhance the flavor.
